Through my years in the Air Force as a psychiatric nurse and as a service dog trainer, I saw repeatedly the healing effect of animals and the incredible human animal bond. For most of my life I knew I was supposed to help Veterans and their families, I just didn’t have the whole picture.

When I started in dog rescue I had a part of the picture, but there was something missing. That is when I saw the incredible need out there for more people to save horses from abuse, neglect and slaughter. Once I connected with Beaux and MerryLegs, my first rescues, I KNEW. The vision started coming together and Patriot Pups and Ponies was born.
